The journey of crafting a Trunk is initiated through a sketch, giving form to the future embodiment of the Trunk. Our design endeavour is encompassed with rigorous analysis of materials, textures, colours, and forms. We do this thoroughly, generating a multitude of compositions & layouts, considering various angles, perspectives, and possibilities which in turn give birth to the dissected three way opening of the Trunk.
The external façade of the Small Bar Cabinet Trunk is painstakingly hand painted with more than 50,000 hand strokes of paintbrushes and foam by fresh forging a patina finish on the leather, in Trunks Company’s signature hues. This technique is symbolic to the natural aging of the leather.
We envision surprising configurations and unconventional approaches to accessing the Trunk. Through the alchemy of our concepts and directions, we discovered the ingenious outstretch of the Trunk’s doors, as its wings unfold to reveal the mesmerizing depth of the creation along with its enchanting interior details. This ceremonial act of engaging with our Trunks begins with the centerpiece, The Signature Lock, which features a metal Escutcheon sculpted in the silhouette of our iconic hexagonal insignia.
The creation of a single Trunk is akin to engineering a transformative process, an interplay of painstaking craftsmanship with the finest of materials. This meticulous process unfolds over hundreds, or perhaps, thousands of hours, encompassing multiple stages of craftsmanship. Our creative & imaginative artistry, an outcome of 14 years of exceptional know-how, from the crucible of countless rejections and trials, evolves into true works of art. An acquired expertise to interpret the finest materials and craftsmanship enriched with cultural echoes, constantly mastering our design thinking.
